Gregory Dean Smith, PhD, MDiv, DO, FACOFP-dist. is a fifth generation Texan from Fort Worth, Texas, who joined Discovery Behavioral Health in July 2024. He graduated from Baylor University with a B.S. in Geology in 1978, and went on to graduate from the University of North Texas Health Science with a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983. Later in his career, he obtained a Doctorate in Academic Administration and a Master of Divinity from the Golden Gate Seminary in California in 2020. He is a Family Physician, an Obstetrical Surgeon, and an ordained minister.

During the mid-nineties, he was a Faculty Professor within a Family Practice Residency in Oklahoma City, teaching with Family Practice Residents within a Psychiatric In-Patient Hospital. He taught for thirty years as either a professor or a Dean within Medical Schools and Residency Programs. He also assisted and planned in the building of three Osteopathic Medical Schools. In Denver, Colorado, he contributed to the formation of a Regional Southern Baptist Seminary and collaborated in building an Occupational Medical System.

Dr. Smith looks forward to his time working with patients within the Behavioral Health System. From the very start of his career, Psychiatry has been a large part of his practice as a Board-Certified Family Physician. For hobbies he enjoys playing piano (he took twelve years of classical piano training), as well as golf, church work, and performing in three medical missions each year across the globe.
