LCSW
Yolanda Acosta, LCSW, is a bilingual and culturally responsive clinical social worker with experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and older adults from diverse backgrounds. Her clinical work is grounded in trauma-informed care and emphasizes creating a safe, collaborative, and compassionate therapeutic environment where clients can process difficult experiences while building insight, resilience, and meaningful change.
Her clinical experience incorporates a range of evidence-based and evidence-informed practices, including EMDR, CBT, TF-CBT, ACT, MI, and SFBT. She integrates these approaches according to each client’s presenting concerns, developmental needs, cultural background, readiness for treatment, and individualized goals.
She has particular experience integrating EMDR and trauma-focused interventions into her work with clients who have experienced complex and longstanding trauma. Her approach recognizes the impact that family systems, culture, and broader social environments can have on mental health and recovery (person-in-environment framework).
As a clinician, Yolanda values the therapeutic relationship as an essential part of the healing process. Her approach balances warmth and empathy with clinical structure, assessment, and evidence-based interventions. She strives to help clients better understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, develop effective coping skills, and move forward with greater confidence and autonomy.
