Laura Ann Beaufford

Laura was born in Waco, Texas and raised in Irving, Texas by both parents alongside three older half-brothers. During her childhood, she experienced the tragic loss of one of her brothers, who attempted suicide and was later diagnosed with drug-induced psychosis, schizophrenia, and unspecified bipolar depression. Sadly, he did not survive his condition and was fatally shot by a police officer in Orange County, California—an individual who likely lacked the training to appropriately handle someone experiencing a severe mental health crisis.

This heartbreaking experience became the driving force behind Laura’s commitment to making a meaningful difference through education and compassionate care. Throughout her life, she explored various career paths including graphic arts, accounting, and retail customer service at a privately owned herb store.

At the age of 41, Laura made the decision to return to college and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington’s nursing program in 2009. As a registered nurse, she gained valuable experience working in medical-surgical units, cardiac care, hospice services, and case management at a major hospital in Dallas County.

Driven to make an even greater impact in mental health care, Laura earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) across the lifespan. This career path allowed her to fully apply her empathetic nature and strong listening skills to help others in a more profound way.

Today, Laura provides mental health care to adults ages 18 and up, offering inclusive and unbiased care to all individuals—including members of the LGBTQ+ community—with dedication, compassion, and professionalism.
